Kei Gotoh made his first pipe during college time from a pre-drilled block and continued to make pipes on a hobby basis for many years, before he in 1981 started to work for Tsuge where he was one of the carvers behind the Ikebana line.
In 1987 , he moved on to work with plastic and wood mockups for the industry but continued to make a small amount of pipes every year.
Kei has a very limited production and his name is mentioned with highest respect both from collectors and pipemakers.
