Alex Florov was born and raised in Moscow, Russia in 1969. He moved to Chicago, USA in 1992 where he worked as an industrial design model maker. In the spring of 2004, his father-in-law dared him to make a pipe for him, Soon after, he started to make more and more pipes to friends and found that they attracted attention from other pipesmokers. He uses the best material available and shapes come from his vision and imagination. Alex highest grade is Elephant Slonim, in Russian, Slon means elephant.
